The following were FMM proposals to the Ministry of Finance for the 2012 Budget and Ministry of International Trade and Industry for the MITI Annual Dialogue 2011:
-
Increase allocation to Market Development Grant scheme, which is a proven tool that had helped to expand and strengthen market access for Malaysian products and services, especially among SMEs.
-
Increase allocation to MATRADE to set up more trade offices and a stronger marketing team to secure market opportunities for Malaysian products and services in overseas markets.
-
Provide export advisers to handhold and drive SMEs to become directly involved in export activities.
-
Encourage the growth of a strong mercantile class to help enhance market competitiveness of Malaysian products and services through cargo consolidation and to source for more inputs to minimize shipping costs to both Malaysian exporters and importers by ensuring a full shipload out and into the country.
