Manufacturers acknowledge state of emergency

FMM In The News: THE MALAYSIAN RESERVE, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 - THE local manufacturing community will respect the proclamation of the state of emergency as it is an important step to control the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai (picture) said in a statement the association takes note of the proclamation of a state of emergency nationwide by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah which is expected to last until Aug 1, 2021.

“The business fraternity is glad to know that businesses can continue to function and that the proclamation of emergency will not impede business operations.

“The manufacturing industry hopes that with the Covid-19 vaccinations to be received soon, and the current layered implementation of the Movement Control Order 2.0 in the country, it will effectively flatten the curve and bring down the number of Covid-19 cases and that the emergency order could be withdrawn soonest possible,” Soh said.

He added that it is important for manufacturers to strictly obey the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in their business operation to break the chain of infections.

“In the meantime, FMM continues to remind the industry to strictly observe the Covid-19 precautionary measures and be diligent and vigilant in adhering to the SOPs, as breaking this chain of infections is a concerted effort of everyone,” Soh said.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the state of emergency for the country with consent by the King to help the country reduce the infectious rate of the coronavirus.

In his speech, Muhyiddin assured the local and global investors that businesses in Malaysia will continue as usual, and that the emergency period will give calm and stability needed for an economic recovery.
