FMM In The News: FOCUS MALAYSIA, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 - THE Government’s decision to prioritise frontline workers in crucial economic sectors, including manufacturing, to get the vaccine is a welcomed effort to rejuvenate the economy.

“Indeed, the industry is a critical economic frontliner towards quicker economic recovery and rejuvenation,” said Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) president Datuk Soh Thian Lai in a statement earlier today.

“It is imperative for the industry to give their full support and commitment towards ensuring the effectiveness of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in order to achieve the targeted goal to attain herd immunity within the community,” he added.

On this, FMM hopes that the vaccination process for the economic frontliners could be arranged in a manner that it could be done factory by factory or in batches of employees or even by private clinics or hospitals.

This would help in speeding up the vaccination process and reduce as far as possible any operational disruption especially on the production floor.

The second phase of the COVID-19 National Immunisation Programme is set to begin on April 19, which will also prioritise the elderly, those with morbidity problems and people with disabilities.

Recipients will be notified of their appointments starting from April 5 (last Monday), two weeks before the actual vaccination date. – April 7, 2021
