With a state population of 2.4 million, the state administrative capital is Kuching. Sarawak is also one of the world's largest exporters of tropical hardwood timber and is the major contributor to Malaysian exports.
Since the 1980s, Sarawak has started to diversify and transform its economy into a more industrialized one. This en-deavor has been seeing continuing success, with manufacturing and high-tech industries now playing a signifi-cant role in shaping the economic expansion of the state.
In July 2016, FMM Sarawak Representative Office was upgraded to FMM Sarawak Branch Office. The 1st AGM was held on October 7, 2016 and Tuan Haji Othman Abdul Rani from CMS Cement Sdn Bhd was elected as Chairman of FMM Sarawak Branch. The current chairman of FMM Sarawak Branch is Dato' Sri Victor Hii Lu Thian from ASTEEL Sdn Bhd.
