FMM Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Briefing on Endorsement of Non-Preferential Certificate of Origin (NPCO)
Date : April 25, 2025
Time : 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Venue : Shah Alam - FMM Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Branch
Country : Malaysia
To: Chief Executive Officers, Export/Logistics/Marketing Managers & Executives

An increasing number of countries are now requiring importers to provide certificates of origin (CO) to establish the country of origin of their imports. Consequently, a common term in Letters of Credit (LC) or business contracts is the requirement for exporters to obtain a CO that is duly endorsed by a trade association. Failure to meet this requirement could lead to payment issues for the exporter or difficulties with Customs clearance for the imported consignment.

FMM, as a member of both the National Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia and the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, has been authorised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to issue Non-Preferential Certificates of Origin (NPCOs) since 1982. Our track record demonstrates that NPCOs issued by FMM are widely recognised as reliable and acceptable by many countries.

The FMM Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Branch will organise a briefing to help both members and non-members gain a better understanding of the guidelines for applying for NPCOs. This session will also provide an opportunity to share experiences and discuss issues related to NPCOs.

Participants will be briefed on:

  • The rules and procedures for endorsement.
  • The importance of accurate information declaration by exporters on NPCOs

Current and new NPCO applicants especially Trading companies and Manufacturers who re-export spare parts or product imported from overseas are strongly to recommended to learn about the Back-to-Back guidelines. This will help to ensure that their export business are remain unaffected and their supply chains are not disrupted.

Who should attend - Staff of companies who are directly involved in preparing the NPCO (e.g. shipping clerks, executives, administrative assistants), senior management staff, logistics/ export/ shipping managers/purchasing/sales executives who are responsible for exports and import activities.
