FMM Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Seminar on Employment Act 1955 and Its Latest Amendments
INTRODUCTION
The Employment Act 1955 serves as a pivotal legislation outlining the basic employment terms for recognised employees. This course will comprehensively cover the pertinent provisions essential for effective employee management within the workplace. Understanding and adhering to labour laws are paramount for fostering positive employer-employee relations. While employer productivity is crucial, maintaining industrial harmony is equally vital for employee satisfaction.
The amendments to Malaysia's Employment Act 1955, introduced on October 25, 2021, is aimed to extend pregnancy and maternity protection, enable flexible working arrangements, and introduce penalties for forced labour, among other changes. These amendments will align with international standards advocated by entities like the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), as well as the Malaysia-United States Labour Consistency Plan. The speaker will discuss the latest amendments to the law in this regard.
