UPDATE 43: Swab Test Requirement for Employees in Red Zones Within the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) Areas

Senior Minister of Defence YB Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily press conference on October 21, 2020 had clarified the following in relation to the requirement for the Covid-19 screening swab test for employees in the red zones within the CMCO areas to ensure early detection and deter any new clusters at the workplace:

i. Swab test is mandatory for all foreign workers in the construction sector and for security guards
ii. Swab test is mandatory for persons showing symptoms of the Covid-19 infection
iii. Workers from the red zone subjected to the Work From Home directive but required to return to work in the office by their employers are highly encouraged to take the swab test

In addition, the Minister of Human Resources YB Datuk Seri M. Saravanan via a media statement on October 21, 2020 has informed that SOCSO has expanded the access to the Prihatin Screening Programme (PSP) for COVID-19 screening to all SOCSO contributors in all sectors in areas under the CMCO in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan and Sabah effective October 22, 2020. The PSP facilities can be accessed through:

i. An appointment with the SOCSO authorised panel of service providers and this would be fully paid by SOCSO.
ii. The Prihatin Screening Subsidy Programme where the COVID-19 screening can also be carried out through laboratories other than SOCSO authorised panel of service providers. The screening costs must be paid by the employer in advance and SOCSO will refund up to RM150.00 per employee who have undergone the COVID-19 screening.
