The President of Singapore, Dr. Tony Tan and and his wife, Mary Tan visited Malacca on September 20, 2013 as part of a three -day official visit to Malaysia. Dr. Tony Tan and his wife were met by Malacca Yang DiPertua, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob and wife at the Istana Melaka. The Chief Minister of Malacca were also present. There are currently 19 Singaporean companies operating in Malacca and based on historical similarities coupled with recent developments, Malacca is seen as a place for Singaporean to invest especially in the industry and telecommunication sector.
