SUBMIT YOUR ISSUES VIA KEDAH BUSINESS INVESTMENT COUNCIL [KBIC]

The Kedah State Government has established the Kedah Business Investment Council (KBIC) as a medium for industry players / stakeholders to submit issues of concerns to the State Government. The KBIC,where FMM is a member, is chaired YBSr. TAN KOK YEW, Exco for Industry & Investment, Local Government and Housing.

FMM Kedah/Perlis Committee co-chairs the Sub-Committee on Manufacturing Sector, which comprises of Federal and State agencies, utility providers and selected industry players. The first meeting held on October 23, 2019 agreed on the following focused areas:

1. Focus on improving infrastructure and utility services for existing industrial areas. 
2. Ensure any new industrial area being developed is conducive for industrial development. Direct consultation with stakeholders should be in place.
3. Give special treatment i.e. hand-holding for new manufacturing projects / expansion by assisting to speed up approval process.
4. Develop a land-bank directory or property database to assist potential investors to make speedy decision to invest in Kedah.
5. Propose policy / state special incentives to retain / attract investment in manufacturing activities in Kedah.
6. Human Capital Development. Collaborate with relevant agencies and training providers to ensure ready supply of resources –equipped with necessary competency and / or skills to meet industry needs.
7. Address issues related to foreign workers and how to reduce dependency on them. Formulate interim measures to be put in place to ensure a smooth transition. 

It was also agreed that FMM Kedah/Perlis together with Invest Kedah Berhad to be the focal points for industry players to submit issues or obtain assistance. Members are also welcomed to participate in the Sub-Committee.
