FMCO Operating Issues Meeting with Johor State Chief Minister YAB Datuk Ir. Hasni Bin Haji Mohammad

The Johor State Chief Minister requested to meet FMM representatives on July 8, 2021after the Branch submitted a letter to him on July 7, 2021. Highlights of the meeting were:

  • The Branch urged YAB Datuk to look into the FMCO implementation issues feedback by members and appealed to move Johor State into Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan(NRP) to prevent permanent and irreversible damage to business.
  • The Branch urged YAB Datuk to the Federal Government to adopt a decentralised approach to the National Recovery Plan (NRP). This would enable the respective States to progress through the NRP phases at its own pace and implement a more flexible or localised approach in relaxing the economic activities.
  • The Branch presented YAB Datuk a quick survey data tabulation which was conducted within a day amongst 20 member companies. YAB Datuk was surprised with the companies’ huge business losses for June 2021, their plans to downsize, retrench and to move out from Johor. He requested the branch to continue with the data compilation and feedback to him. The Branch urged YAB Datuk to implement immediate measures to restore the MNCS and investor’s confidence in Johor.
  • The Branch also requested YAB Datuk to look into the EMCO scheduled to commence on July 9,2021 for Indahpura Kulai and Senai areas. The Branch urged YAB Datuk to review the risk assessment on the implications of EMCO to both the industrial areas.
  • Since the affordable test kit is not available in the market, the Branch also proposed to YAB Datuk to do away with the requirement to undergo RTK Antigen test twice a week for employees of permitted essential goods manufacturers in EMCO areas.
