UPDATE 2/2022: Update on Management Procedure for Close Contacts to Covid-19 Cases
According to Covid-19 Vaccination Status

With the current spike of Covid-19 cases, more and more people are coming into close contact with individuals who are Covid-19 positive.

With effect from March 1, 2022 (as per details below), close contacts who are asymptomatic and have received their booster dose are no longer required to undergo home quarantine but must conduct a RTK (Ag) self-test on Day 1 and Day 3.Meanwhile, close contact individuals who have received their booster but display symptoms would have to be quarantined for a period of five (5) days. The quarantine period and test requirement for close contacts defined as fully vaccinated or partially/unvaccinated are as follows:

Close contact individuals who are required to undergo home quarantine will be issued with a Home Surveillance Order (HSO) and later with a Release Order (RO) at the end of the quarantine period when their RTK (Ag) self-test is negative on their last day of the HSO. Individuals under home quarantine are not required to go to the Covid-19 assessment centre (CAC).

On February 25, 2022 the Director General (DG) of Health, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ SeriDr. Noor Hisham Abdullah through a press statement has urged all employers to accept the digital certificate on HSO and RO issued by the system instead of requiring the close contact employees to obtain written notice from the CAC on the HSO and RO. This would also apply for individual who are Covid-19 positive under categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2A(mild symptoms).

FMM members are urged to follow the Director General of Health’s advice in accepting the digital HSO certificate and recognise such certificate as equivalent to quarantine order by granting hospitalisation leave as per section 60F of the Employment Act 1955.
