COVID-19 Management Plan and Health Advisory (GI/29/2023)

In view of the 62.2% significant increase in COVID-19 reported cases (20,696 cases) during the 50th epidemiology week from December 10 - 16, 2023 in comparison to the previous week (12,757 cases), the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH) had announced on December 18, 2023 the following:

1. Strengthening COVID-19 Management Plan through five main strategies:

    i. Strategy 1: Early detection of COVID-19 cases and SARS-CoV-2 variants.
    ii. Strategy 2: Community empowerment through TRIIS practices (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform, and Seek)
    iii. Strategy 3: Surveillance of health facilities, COVID-19 management and case control mainly to protect the high-risk groups.
    iv. Strategy 4: Community empowerment through effective risk communication; and
    v. Strategy 5: Digitisation of health system in pandemic management through the MySejahtera application.

2. Health Advisory Related to COVID-19

    i. Avoid 3Cs: Avoid Crowded places, Confined spaces and Close-distance socialising
    ii. Practise 3W's: Practise Wash, Wear and Warn
    iii. Always wear a face mask in an enclosed public area. The use of a face mask is strongly encouraged.
    iv. Always maintain a high level of personal hygiene. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or sanitiser.
    v. For those with symptoms, self-health assessment is encouraged and it is not advisable to attend any crowded and public gathering areas.
    vi. Immediately see a doctor for an examination and seek further treatment if severe symptoms persist.
    vii. Take COVID-19 booster shot, especially for high-risk groups; and
    viii. Obtain Paxlovid antiviral treatment at the Health Clinic or the nearest private medical practitioner for high risk COVID-19 positive individuals.
Members are strongly encouraged to implement and remind your employees of the precautionary measures as listed under the health advisory. The MoH press statement is attached for reference.
