The National Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) 62nd Anniversary Gala Dinner held on July 25, 2024 at the One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya, was graced by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. Themed Forging a Prosperous Future with MADANI Values, this distinguished gathering of over 1,200 guests included the highest echelons of business and government leadership in Malaysia including YB Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI); YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Digital Minister; Government Officers and Diplomats.
Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai, NCCIM President, who is also FMM President, delivered the Welcome Address at the dinner, highlighting crucial challenges and proposals, such as national debt management, education transformation, green technology adoption, and strengthening MSMEs. He emphasised NCCIM's commitment to working with the government to ensure ongoing success for the country and its businesses, advocating for policy formation that is credible, consistent, clear, and certain.
Following this, YB Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, MITI Minister delivered Special Remarks acknowledging NCCIM's longstanding support, particularly their role in supporting international missions and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with overseas chambers providing a platform for businesses to leverage on.
A highlight of the evening was the Keynote Address by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia who expressed gratitude to NCCIM for its contributions and announced a RM1 million donation to support NCCIM’s initiatives. The Prime Minister also assured that the government would consider NCCIM's new proposals on energy transition, education, digital transformation, and other critical areas.
It was an evening to remember with vibrant performance from Hael Husaini and a live band coupled with various activities held in the foyer such as the lucky draw for the book by Prime Minister of Malaysia entitled MADANI, ice-cream and Milo servings by Nestlé Malaysia. Networking opportunities and a formal group photo with key dignitaries captured the unity and collaborative spirit of the occasion.
