Charting Economic Collaborations at the 60th East Asia Business Council Meeting on June 13, 2024 in Seoul, Korea

Tan Sri Dato' Soh Thian Lai, President of FMM, attended the 6th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Business Advisory Council (RBAC) meeting and the 60th East Asia Business Council (EABC) meeting as a member of EABC Malaysia, appointed by the Minister of MITI. The meetings were chaired by Mr Thanongsinh Kalangna from EABC Laos and co-chaired by Mr Gihyun Kim, EABC Co-Chair 2024, represented by Ms. Moon-kyung Oh, Director of Asia Department, Korea International Trade Association (KITA). Held on June 13, 2024, at KITA Trade Tower in Seoul, Korea, the sessions were followed by a networking dinner hosted by KITA.

The meeting was attended by 29 representatives from Brunei, China, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

Additionally, EABC members had the opportunity to attend NextRise Seoul 2024 on June 14, 2024, renowned as Asia's premier startup fair. This event facilitated connections among entrepreneurs, accelerators, venture capitalists, and industry leaders, fostering valuable relationships, knowledge exchange, and the presentation of disruptive innovations.

Established in 2004 by the ASEAN, China, Japan, and Republic of Korea (ASEAN +3) Economic Ministers, the East Asia Business Council (EABC) serves to provide the private sector's perspective and feedback to deepen economic cooperation and enhance the region's economic growth. Through annual meetings with ASEAN+3 Economic Ministers and Leaders, the EABC expresses its views and provides advice regarding trade and investment opportunities as well as regional integration.
