Cambodia-Malaysia Business Forum 2024 on February 27, 2024

Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai, FMM President cum President of NCCIM delivered the Special Remark at the Cambodia-Malaysia Business Forum 2024 on February 27, 2024, held in conjunction with the historic first official visit of His Excellency Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia to Malaysia. 

Following the three proposals shared by Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai namely on cooperation in the Halal ecosystem for export to the Middle East countries by leveraging on the existing FTAs, establishing a high-tech Cambodia-Malaysia industry park and exploring collaborations in TVET to upskill workforce; the Cambodian Prime Minister warmly welcomed these proposals as it aligned with his government’s policy when it comes to its relations with Malaysia.

Organised by the Malaysian Business Chamber of Cambodia (MBCC) and the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (CCC), with the support of NCCIM, MIDA and MATRADE; the Forum kicked off with the panel discussion on strategies for bolstering trade and investment flows between the two countries featuring Mr Jacob Lee, FMM Vice-President and Managing Director of Asli Mechanical Sdn Bhd; H.E. Lor Tithchan Sopheak, Advisor of the Council for Development of Cambodia (CDC); Mr S. Jai Shankar, Director and Sustainability Lead of MATRADE; and Oknha Lim Socheat, Vice President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Laksmi Prime Investment Co Ltd.

The Forum continued with the Remarks by Neak Oknha Kith Meng, CCC President and Oknha Tan Khee Meng, MBCC President, who shared their insightful perspectives on doing business in Cambodia. Two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged at the Forum between the CCC, MBCC and the NCCIM.
