Ban on Heavy Vehicles on Roads during CHINESE NEW YEAR 2024 (GPR/3/2024)

FMM would like to inform that Heavy Vehicles will be banned from ALL ROADS in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak for FOUR DAYS on February 8-9, 2024 and February12-13, 2024 during the CHINESE NEW YEAR festival as part of the Government’s effort to reduce road accidents during the festive period. The categories of heavy vehicles restricted as agreed by the Road Transport Department are as follows:

1.

1.1     Car carrier and tipper/ dumper/ tipping lorry of which its laden weight (BDM) exceed 7,500kg, low loader, pole trailers, bulk cement tanker, platform trailer, logging truck, wheeled heavy machinery and tractor.

1.2     Lorry transporting cement, iron, steel, stones, sand, earth, other construction materials, tailing, tin, coal and other mineral materials.

NOT ALLOWED on roads
on February 8-9, 2024 and February 12-13, 2024

2.

2.1     Container lorry transporting goods (except container lorry transporting goods from a port or airport to an industrial area in the same state and vice versa). 

2.2     Lorry transporting electronic & electrical goods or industrial material (related to chemical, palm oil and rubber) from port or airport to an industrial area in the same state and vice versa. 

2.3     Lorry transporting palm oil and rubber products from plantations to industrial areas.

2.4     Cargo lorry without a load

NOT ALLOWED on roads from
12.00 midnight to 8.00am
on February 8-9, 2024 and February 12-13, 2024

3.

3.1  Mobile crane and cement mixer lorry

NOT ALLOWED on roads
from 
6.00pm to 6.00am
on February 8-9, 2024
and 
February 12-13, 2024 
Travel distance not more than 25km from
the construction site subject to operation time limit allowed on certain roads.

Please note that heavy wheeled machinery, mobile cranes or tow trucks carrying out emergency work AND other vehicles carrying goods that are not listed in any of the categories ARE ALLOWED to operate during this prohibition period.
