UPDATE 37: Administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Kedah

Following the rise in Covid-19 cases in the locality linked to the Sungai and Tawar clusters in Kedah, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) YB Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that Kota Setar District in Kedah would be placed under an administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from September 11 to 25, 2020 involving 28 townships as follows:

The administrative EMCO requires companies to adhere to the following:

(i) Only the following Essential Services are ALLOWED to be in operation:
  • Food and Beverages;
  • Health and medical care;
  • Energy;
  • Financial services;
  • Communication and Internet services;
  • E-commerce; and
  • Security and defense;
  • Logistics (limited to the delivery of essential services)
  • Solid waste management and public cleaning and sewerage;
(ii) Factories would need to apply for permission from Police before they are allowed to operate during the administrative EMCO period.

(iii) International entry point at Bukit Kayu Hitam is closed until the end of administrative EMCO. This closure WILL NOT affect the movement of goods using cargo transportation.

We wish to remind member companies that have yet to register in Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) 3.0 to do so via https://notification.miti.gov.my as a form of preemptive measure in the event of future major outbreak for the necessary systems and approval to be deployed.
