MEMBERS ADVISORY: Reminder: Ensure Timely Payment of Levy for Approved Foreign Worker Quota

August 5, 2022

Further to an engagement session held at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) on August 3, 2022 on the foreign worker application process, the Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia highlighted that out of 321,000 foreign worker quota approved thus far, levy payment has been settled for only 100,000 approvals. Many employers who have obtained the quota approval for the Visit Pass (Temporary Employment) / Pas Lawatan (Kerja Sementara) (PLKS) via the Foreign Worker Centralised Management System (FWCMS) have yet to settle the levy payment.

The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) would like to remind members who have obtained the quota approval to ensure timely payment of the levy within the 30-day validity period from the date of approval. The approval will automatically be cancelled and become invalid if the levy payment is not settled within the 30 days.

Members are urged to check for the update via the FWCMS for the official approval after the interview session for the levy payment to be made immediately in order to proceed to the next level.
