FMM's 4th Nation-wide Salary Survey Report 2005 is OUT!


The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers’ (FMM) Annual Salary, Benefits and Employment Conditions Survey of the Manufacturing Sector 2005 provides:

  • Exclusive survey coverage of manufacturing companies and manufacturing related industry;
  • Comprehensive data on employment conditions;
  • Analysis of manpower/skills requirements and shortages of skills encountered;
  • Overall industry trends in salary scales, increments and bonuses; and
  • Latest fringe benefits for benchmarking purposes.

180 companies, employing a total of 83,001 workers (16,574 executives and 66,427 non-executives) from 15 main industries, participated in the Survey. The 468-page Survey Report analysed data by:

• Executive & non-executive
• Industry sub-sector
• Location
• Size of company
• Job classification
• Years of experience
• Unionised/non-unionised workforce


Highlights of the Survey findings on increments and bonuses are:

  • Across-the-board salary adjustments were made by half of the respondents in 2005.

  • 89.4% of respondents gave salary increments in 2005 that were generally higher than 2004.

  • 91.7% of respondents paid bonuses in 2005 that were generally higher than 2004.

  • 79.1% of respondents would be paying increments in 2006.

  • 80% indicated that they were would continue paying bonus in 2006.

  • Salary difference between diploma and degree holders at entry level was generally about 17% for 21 posts surveyed.

The FMM Salary Survey Report 2005 would tell you whether your company’s salary and benefits package is aligned with others in the:
